LA GUINÉE LANCE LES TRAVAUX DE SA 3E RAFFINERIE D’ALUMINE
This Saturday, June 13, 2026, will remain a significant date. On the Lisso Demougala site, a little over 40 km from Boffa, the work on the Chalco alumina refinery was officially launched.

Under the leadership of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mamadi Doumbouya, Guinea is keeping its promise: to transform its resources locally rather than exporting them in their raw state.

The ceremony, co-chaired by General Amara Camara and Djiba Diakité, president of the Simandou Strategic Committee, brought together members of the government, industrial partners and the local community around a common goal: to build the industrial future of the country.

The figures speak for themselves. The refinery represents an investment of approximately $1 billion, with a production capacity of 1.2 million tons of alumina per year. It joins the SPIC and Winning refineries in Dobali, bringing to three the number of refineries launched under the leadership of the Head of State.

Signed on May 21st in Conakry, the agreements with Chalco are already taking shape on the ground. This speed demonstrates a shared desire to move forward without delay.

For Djiba Diakité, the Minister and Chief of Staff to the President, this refinery goes beyond a simple industrial setting. In his words, it is "the symbol of a Guinea that is changing its scale, asserting its economic sovereignty, and choosing to process its resources locally to create value, jobs, and opportunities for its people."

His vision is straightforward: “Transform locally. Create wealth here. Develop skills here. Create jobs here. Build a strong industry here, in the Republic of Guinea. That is the meaning of the struggle undertaken.”

And to reiterate the ongoing national momentum: "Today, with SPIC, the Winning consortium in Dobali and now Chalco, our country will have three alumina refineries built under the leadership of the Head of State. Three refineries. Three symbols of a Guinea that now refuses to remain on the sidelines of its own wealth."

The Minister also emphasized the human impact of this project: "Every job created gives hope to a family. Every training course offered gives a young person a future prospect."

Economic sovereignty is no longer a slogan. It is being built, here in Guinea.
