Niger : alerte aux inondations et intempéries, déjà 7 morts enregistrés
The Operational Centre for Monitoring, Alert and Crisis Management (COVACC) has issued an alert regarding the risks of flooding, strong winds, lightning, collapses and drownings across Niger.
According to data from the General Directorate of Civil Protection, the severe weather had already caused seven deaths and injured 29 people as of June 13, 2026. A total of 220 households, representing 1,476 people, were affected in the regions of Niamey, Dosso, Tahoua, and Zinder. The damage also includes the loss of 62 head of livestock.
Authorities are urging people to heed weather alerts, evacuate flood-prone areas, secure homes and avoid risky behavior, including crossing swollen rivers or taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms.
