Avenir de l'école sénégalaise : Ce qui va changer avec la grande refondation lancée à Thiès !
The academic forum on the curriculum reform of the education system opened this Monday in Thiès, chaired by the Deputy Governor in charge of development, Ababacar Sadikh Niang. This meeting brings together education stakeholders, administrative authorities, partners, and community representatives to discuss the future of Senegalese schools.
In his opening address, Mr. Niang emphasized the historic nature of this initiative, noting that the proposed reform addresses several essential dimensions of the education system. He specifically mentioned the purpose of schooling, the relevance of curricula and teaching methods, teacher training, and the improvement of infrastructure and equipment.
The deputy governor also stressed the need to integrate issues related to equity, social inclusion, the promotion of science, digital technologies and youth employability.
According to him, this overhaul reflects a strong national ambition: to train Senegalese citizens rooted in their cultural values, open to contemporary challenges, and capable of contributing to the country's development. This vision aligns with the dynamics of Vision Senegal 2050, the new framework for public policy.
Ababacar Sadikh Niang reminded everyone that this transformation is not solely the responsibility of education specialists, but constitutes a collective responsibility involving all social actors and grassroots communities.
He thus advocated for a school founded on ethical and humanist values, supported by inclusive and participatory governance, and oriented towards quality, innovation and success.
While commending the preparatory work carried out by the Thiès Academy Inspectorate, the services of the Ministry of National Education and the various partners, he invited the participants to conduct "frank, deep, relevant and constructive" exchanges so that the Thiès region can make a significant contribution to the national reflection on the reform of the education system.
At the end of his speech, he expressed the wish that this forum would constitute "the crucible of fruitful ideas and the starting point of a regenerated school, serving current and future generations", before officially declaring the proceedings open.
