Télédiffusion du Sénégal : Le SYNPICS et le SYNPAP dénoncent des « intimidations » et durcissent le ton

The Union of Information and Communication Professionals of Senegal (SYNPICS) and SYNPAP (National Union of Administrative and Professional Staff of TDS-SA) denounce "multiple attempts at intimidation and pressure exerted against staff representatives" of Senegalese Broadcasting (TDS-SA). They warn of the deteriorating social climate within the company.

In a joint statement published on June 17, the two trade union organizations called on the authorities to address several concerns they say they have raised unsuccessfully for almost two years.

This statement comes after the press conference held on June 11, during which the situation at TDS-SA and the workers' concerns were already discussed. The unions assert that following this public statement, "to their great surprise, management initiated a direct summons procedure against their colleague Ngor Diouf, general secretary of SYNPAP and staff representative."

They are also concerned about the case of Modou Ndao, an experienced agent who was allegedly removed from an important mission in circumstances deemed troubling by some staff.

For employee representatives, these events are part of an already tense social climate and reflect a gradual questioning of union expression and the role of workers' representatives.

The two unions also draw attention to the ongoing difficulties at TDS-SA. Despite numerous warnings, no satisfactory answers have been provided for nearly two years on issues related to governance, working conditions, the social climate, and the future of the company.

They also regret the lack of concrete measures to address the concerns expressed, believing that this contributes to a gradual deterioration of social dialogue and an increase in internal tensions.

In light of this situation, SYNPICS and SYNPAP call for the urgent intervention of the relevant authorities to fully investigate the alleged facts. They emphasize the need to uphold the principles of good governance, social dialogue, and respect for trade union freedoms.

The trade unions reaffirm their solidarity with the workers they consider victims of unfair measures related to their union activity and call for mobilization. "More than ever, worker unity is our greatest strength," they emphasize.

Finally, they announce the preparation of a union action plan including a sit-in and the wearing of the red armband, the details of which will be specified in the coming days.
