Douanes du Sud : recettes en hausse et saisies record de drogue en 2025
The Director General of Customs has completed a six-day tour across all units of the Southern Regional Customs Directorate (DRS), covering the customs offices of Ziguinchor, Séléty, Kalifourou, Sénoba and Vélingara, as well as the subdivisions of Ziguinchor and Kolda which supervise a total of 19 customs units.
At the end of this visit, the head of Customs praised the results achieved by the services in the region, highlighting performances deemed remarkable both in revenue collection and in the fight against illicit trafficking.
In terms of revenue, customs clearances by the DRS reached 5.76 billion CFA francs in 2025, compared to 4.82 billion CFA francs in 2024, representing a significant increase.
The Southern Regional Directorate has also distinguished itself in the fight against transnational organized crime. During 2025, customs units seized 387 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated street value of nearly 31 billion CFA francs.
The agents also intercepted 5,168 kilograms of Indian hemp, representing a value of more than 506 million CFA francs, as well as large quantities of counterfeit medicines valued at more than 9 million CFA francs.
The fight against financial crime was also among the year's highlights. Units in the South seized 41,064 counterfeit banknotes, with an estimated value of 5.545 billion CFA francs.
The results recorded in 2026 confirm this trend. To date, the Ziguinchor Customs subdivision has already seized more than 10 tons of cannabis, illustrating the intensification of surveillance and enforcement operations carried out in this strategic area of the country.
