Thiès : deux jeunes accusés d’avoir volé 13 moutons, le procureur réclame leur relaxe au bénéfice du doute
G. Bâ and D. Bâ, two 22-year-old men, a farmer and a shepherd respectively, appeared before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses on charges of theft committed as a group. They are accused of stealing 13 sheep belonging to the herder S. Guèye.
In court, the two defendants categorically denied the charges against them. Before the judges, they maintained they had never seen the sheep in question.
For his part, the plaintiff explained that he had tied his sheep up behind his house before noticing they were missing. After an unsuccessful search, he went to the police station to report the theft. It was subsequently that a woman contacted him by phone to inform him that individuals had been intercepted while transporting sheep deemed suspicious in a vehicle.
Believing he had suffered harm, the farmer claimed the sum of 2 million FCFA in damages.
However, the deputy public prosecutor considered the evidence in the case insufficient to establish the guilt of the two defendants. He therefore requested their acquittal based on reasonable doubt.
The case has been adjourned for deliberation.
