"Aucune négociation avec les terroristes...": L'Armée malienne clarifie sur la ibération de 82 soldats
In Mali, the 82 soldiers released by armed terrorist groups on August 13 were presented to the President of the Transition, General Assimi Goita, yesterday, Monday, August 17, at the Koulouba Palace.
This ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister Delegate in charge of Defence and Veterans, Major General Oumar Diarra, the Chief of Staff of the President of the Transition, the Secretary General of the Presidency and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Elisée Jean Dao.
Praising the resilience, tenacity and bravery of these soldiers throughout their detention, Mr. Dao indicated that no negotiations had been initiated with the enemy to secure their release.
No ransom payments or deals with terrorists
The conditions were in place to make their captivity untenable for the kidnappers, the high-ranking officer asserted. In short, there were no ransom payments or agreements with the terrorists, according to the major general.
Their release is due to "the combined effort of all actors, in particular the General Staff of the Armed Forces, whose intense air campaign contributed to maintaining strong pressure on terrorist groups," further supports the Minister Delegate in charge of Defense, General Oumar Diarra.
