Burkina Faso : le gouvernement annonce la rupture des relations diplomatiques avec la France
The Burkinabe government announced on June 26, 2026, the severing of its diplomatic relations with France. Ouagadougou justifies this decision by citing the deterioration of bilateral relations, accusing Paris of interference, supporting subversive networks, and adopting a stance hostile to the interests of Burkina Faso.
The authorities clarify that this measure only concerns relations between the two states and does not call into question the historical ties between the Burkinabe and French people.
The government also called for respect for French nationals present on the territory and reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing a foreign policy based on sovereignty, diversification of partnerships and international cooperation.
