Côte d’Ivoire : Nouvelle découverte d’hydrocarbures sur le bloc C1-709
In Ivory Coast, the American group Murphy and its partner Petroci Holding have made a new hydrocarbon discovery on the offshore oil block CI-709. The Ivorian Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy released the information in a statement published yesterday, Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
He specifies that it was the drilling of the Bubale-IX well launched at the end of February 2026 on the offshore block, which led to the discovery of the oil in question at 6263 meters below the Ivorian sedimentary basin.
Approximately 30 meters of net oil column distributed across two separate tanks
This well revealed approximately 30 meters of net oil column distributed across two separate reservoirs. Preliminary fluid analyses indicate that the discovered oil is of high quality, suggesting potential for commercial development.
The American oil company Murphy and Petroci Holding plan to begin evaluating this discovery very soon by drilling a new well. The goal is to better characterize the deposit and determine its commercial potential.
