Drugs seized in Mbour prison: Three inmates and a deliveryman brought before the police

The urban security unit of the central police station in Mbour brought four individuals before Prosecutor Augustin Yakhar Faye, head of the prosecutor's office at the Mbour High Court, on Monday, July 20, 2026, for criminal association and attempted introduction of Indian hemp into a place of detention, according to Seneweb sources.

The investigation was launched

On July 18, 2026, the urban security services received a letter from the director of the Mbour prison. The document implicated four people: IF, SFK, and FS, all three inmates at the prison serving sentences, as well as AN, described as the drug supplier.

According to the document, AN appeared the same day at the door of the MAC to drop off a package containing clothes intended for the detainee IF, resident of room 13. The routine check carried out on site by the prison officers revealed six packets of Indian hemp concealed in the seam of a pair of pants.

Unaware that the delivery had been intercepted, inmates SFK (cell 12) and FS (cell 13) presented themselves almost simultaneously at the internal police station to retrieve the incriminating package, on behalf of IF.

The four suspects were taken to the police station for questioning, as was the Jakarta motorcycle belonging to AN, which was used to transport the package.

When questioned by investigators, all those involved attempted to deny the charges, but their denials were unconvincing. They were taken into custody for conspiracy and attempted smuggling of prohibited items into a prison.

At the end of the investigation, the four individuals were brought before the public prosecutor.
