Gambie : 67 migrants interceptés à Gunjur Madina Salam, dont 61 Sénégalais
In a targeted operation conducted yesterday, June 17, 2026, the Border Patrol Unit (BPU) of the Gambian Immigration Department, based at the Migration Management Unit (MMU) in Tanji, intercepted 67 would-be migrants at Gunjur Madina Salam. The group, composed of 61 Senegalese and 5 Gambians, included 65 men and 2 women.

This coordinated action demonstrates the Gambia Immigration Department's (GID) resolve in combating irregular migration and its commitment to strengthening border governance. The objective is clear: to deter smuggling networks from using Gambian territory as a transit point to Europe.

By reaffirming its commitment, the GID emphasizes the need to promote legal and safe pathways to immigration. The department calls on young people to turn their backs on perilous routes that too often end in human tragedies.
