The Government of Côte d'Ivoire has just concluded its Consultative Group meeting held in Abidjan over the past two days. The objective of the two-day meeting was to secure funding for its ambitious National Development Plan (PND 2026-2030).

This Friday, the Ivorian head of state announced that "the commitments announced amount to US$80 billion (47,820 billion CFA francs), or about four times the amount of funding sought."

Alassane Dramane Ouattara attributes this resounding success to the confidence that the international community places in Ivory Coast, the strength of its fundamentals, and the credibility of its strategy and development prospects.

Last April, the Ivorian National Assembly adopted the aforementioned Plan, which anticipates a total investment volume of €175 billion, or around 114,600 billion CFA francs. However, the Advisory Group was aiming for 11,138.2 billion CFA francs from donors.

The said Plan aims for a structural transformation of the economy, the development of human capital and the promotion of sustainable and inclusive development.

It rests on six fundamental pillars: the consolidation of security and stability; the modernization of agriculture; the promotion of private investment; the development of human capital; the strengthening of strategic infrastructure and the promotion of good governance.

On the macroeconomic and social level, the objective is to reduce the poverty rate below 20% by 2030, raise the average income per capita to $4,000, increase the investment rate to 34.5% of GDP and maintain average economic growth of 7.2% over the period.

Therefore, the Ivorian government has decided to give the private sector a central role, particularly in the financing and implementation of the plan. "The promotion of private investment aims to boost the national productive apparatus, support industrialization, and generate sustainable jobs," it states in its presentation document for the 2026-2030 National Development Plan.

The plan also emphasizes the transformation of agriculture and the modernization of strategic infrastructure.
