Guinée : une femme meurt écrasée par un camion à Dubréka
A woman lost her life in a traffic accident on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Tanènè, in the Dubréka prefecture of Guinea. She was on her way to the market when she was run over by a semi-trailer truck.
The tragedy occurred around 7 a.m. at the Tanènè crossroads, on national road number 3. The victim died at the scene, according to information published by Guinéenews and Guineematin.
A collision involving a motorcycle and a truck
Initial reports from the local press indicate a collision between a motorcycle and a truck. Baba Marie Camara, administrative secretary of the Yorokoguiah neighborhood council, told Guineematin that the woman was on the motorcycle at the time of the accident.
According to her account, the motorcyclist fled the scene after the collision. The passenger and the motorcycle ended up under the truck. The truck's wheels ran over her, causing her immediate death.
Guineanews reports that the woman was struck and then crushed by the semi-trailer truck. Both media outlets agree on the location, time, and date of the victim's death, but the investigation will have to establish the exact sequence of events of the accident.
The victim lived in Yorokoguiah
In the initial hours, the victim's identity had not yet been established. She was later identified as a resident of Yorokoguiah. Her name has not been released.
According to the local official interviewed by Guineematin, she was the wife of a blacksmith who had his shop opposite the central mosque in the neighborhood. Her body was first taken to the Dubréka prefectural hospital before being released to her family for burial.
Local authorities have not released any further personal information about the victim. No reports of other deaths or injuries have been published.
The truck was stopped by the traffic police.
The truck involved was impounded by traffic police, according to Guineanews. An investigation will now determine the responsibilities of the truck driver and the motorcyclist.
The investigation will need to determine the position of the vehicles before the collision, the truck's speed, and the reasons why the motorcyclist may have left the scene. At this stage, no official conclusions have been announced.
Heavy goods vehicles are a cause for concern on the Tanènè-Dubréka road.
For several years, truck traffic on this road has been a source of concern for some residents. The RN3 is used by heavy goods vehicles transporting materials and aggregates, among other things. Their presence among motorcycles, pedestrians, and other transport vehicles increases the risks at busy intersections.
This latest accident comes after other road tragedies in Guinea. AfrikMag recently reported several fatal accidents in Siguiri before Tabaski.
In Tanènè, residents are now awaiting the conclusions of the investigation. These will need to clarify the circumstances of the collision and determine any potential legal action related to the woman's death.
