Les armées béninoise et burkinabé lancent une patrouille militaire conjointe à Koualou (zone frontalière)
This is rather unusual. The Beninese and Burkinabe armies launched a joint military patrol yesterday, Tuesday, July 14, in Koualou (a border town in northern Burkina Faso).
According to the website Visages du Bénin, several Burkinabe soldiers are present in the area. They will, in coordination with their Beninese counterparts, secure this sensitive section of the border.
Pooling resources to combat the cross-border terrorist threat
The aim is to deter armed terrorist groups that might intend to operate in the area, to better control the routes of passage and to secure the local populations.
This joint operation reflects the willingness of the military authorities of both countries to pool their resources in the face of the cross-border terrorist threat.
This comes after the visit of the new Beninese president Romuald Wadagni to Ouagadougou on June 2nd.
