Mali : Les nouvelles conditions de déchéance de nationalité inscrites dans le projet d’ordonnance modifiant le Code de la famille
In Mali, the Council of Ministers yesterday, Friday, July 17, adopted a draft ordinance amending Law No. 2011-087 of December 30, 2011, as amended, concerning the Code of Persons and the Family.
This text aims to strengthen the legal framework relating to Malian nationality, particularly with regard to deprivation and loss of nationality.
Prohibition on cooperating with "organizations openly hostile to Mali"
The adoption of this draft ordinance will notably allow for the stripping of nationality of persons who, having held certain positions, go into exile abroad, join a terrorist organization or an organization whose aim is to divide Mali.
Also targeted are persons who have held positions of responsibility within civil society organizations, cooperative bodies or organizations recognized as being of public utility when they cooperate with organizations openly hostile to Mali and aiming for secessionist or terrorist objectives.
The forfeiture would also concern persons who have made a formal declaration of allegiance to another State or who demonstrate through their behaviour their willingness to repudiate their allegiance to the Republic of Mali.
