In Niger, President General Abdourahmane Tiani signed a decree last Monday abolishing several services attached to or under the authority of the Presidency, the Prime Minister's office, and the General Secretariat of the Government. This information was reported by the Nigerien Press Agency (ANP).

The responsibilities of these services are distributed and transferred to different ministries across the country.

Among the services eliminated are the National Center for Strategic and Security Studies (CNESS), the Niger Urban Modernization Agency (AMV-Niger), the High Authority of Waqf, the Investment Fund for Food and Nutritional Security (FISAN), the High Commission for State Modernization (HCME), the General Inspectorate of Administrative Governance (IGGA), the Transport Sector Regulatory Authority (ARST), the Water Sector Regulatory Authority (ARSeau), and the High Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (HAPDP). The responsibilities of these services have been distributed and transferred to various ministries across the country.

The contracts of the auxiliary staff are terminated.

"Therefore, the functions of the general managers, directors, presidents and members of the administration; of the presidents and members of regulatory boards as well as other officials in office in the various services eliminated are terminated," the decree states.

Officials on secondment or assignment within these administrations are "returned to their respective ministries of origin and the contracts of auxiliary staff are terminated under the conditions provided for by the labour legislation in force".
