Ouganda : Le président Museveni appelle ses compatriotes en difficulté à l’étranger à rentrer au pays
On July 17, 2026, in Kyankwanzi, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni urged his compatriots facing difficult living conditions abroad to return home. Speaking at the closing ceremony of a reintegration program for Ugandans repatriated from South Africa, he stated that his country now offered economic opportunities that could enable them to rebuild their future.
In a series of messages published on X, the head of state indicated that he had met, in Kyankwanzi, Ugandans who had recently returned from South Africa.
He assured that his government intended to support their economic reintegration, particularly through the strengthening of savings and credit cooperatives (SACCO), presented as a lever to facilitate access to financing and revive activities.
"I call on Ugandans who are working abroad in difficult conditions to return home and seize the opportunities available to them here," he said.
This release comes as several African countries seek to encourage the return of their diasporas, highlighting local opportunities in entrepreneurship, agriculture, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
For the head of state, the challenge is also to enhance the skills and capital of returning migrants in order to contribute to national economic development.
