Refugié en Sierra Leone : Les Pays-Bas mettent 2 millions d'euros sur la tête du narco-trafiquant Jos Leijdekkers
The Dutch prosecutor's office announced on Monday that it had increased the reward offered for information leading to the arrest of drug kingpin Jos Leijdekkers, known as "Chubby Jos", to two million euros.
Jos Leijdekkers is one of the Netherlands' most wanted criminals and is also on the list of most wanted persons by Europol, the European police agency.
Sentenced in absentia to 24 years in prison for his role in international cocaine trafficking, the fugitive has been in Sierra Leone since the summer of 2024 and is believed to be in a relationship with the daughter of President Julius Maada Bio.
"The arrest of Leijdekkers is the top priority for the public prosecutor's office and the police," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
The reward, the amount of which has been multiplied by ten, is intended for anyone who helps to arrest him, "for example by indicating his movements and the times when he could be arrested, particularly when he is outside Sierra Leone," the same source specified.
In 2024, a Rotterdam court sentenced Jos Leijdekkers in absentia to 24 years in prison for ordering a murder and organizing cocaine shipments.
He was also sentenced in Belgium, in several drug trafficking cases, to a cumulative sentence of 79 years in prison.
