Visite éclair du président gabonais à Bissau : Coopération et dialogue au cœur des échanges
The President of the Republic of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, is making a brief working visit to Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities, this meeting aims to strengthen friendly relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The Gabonese head of state was welcomed around 11:00 AM at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport by the transitional president, General Horta Inta-á, with military honors and an official greeting ceremony. The two leaders then proceeded to the presidential palace for a private meeting followed by a bilateral meeting between their two delegations.
The press release specifies that the agenda includes the signing of cooperation agreements in areas of common interest, intended to consolidate and diversify the partnership between Libreville and Bissau.
Discussions will also cover political dialogue, bilateral cooperation and consultations on regional, continental and international issues.
However, the official program does not confirm whether a joint statement will be issued following this brief, friendly visit. The Gabonese president will return to his country later today, after this diplomatic exchange marked by the two states' desire to deepen their collaboration and broaden their common goals.
