Campagne agricole 2026-2027 à Kédougou : Les travaux champêtres s’intensifient, la distribution des intrants avance à un rythme soutenu
The 2026-2027 agricultural season is now well underway in the Kédougou region. According to the fourth weekly monitoring report covering the period from June 25 to July 1, 2026, land preparation activities are continuing in all production areas, while the distribution of seeds and fertilizers is progressing significantly.
On the ground, producers are fully mobilized. Clearing, cleaning and plowing work continues in the departments of Kédougou, Saraya and Salémata, while awaiting the widespread planting, which will depend on the actual arrival of the rains.
Commissions to guarantee transparency
To ensure the equitable management of agricultural inputs, administrative authorities have established departmental and local commissions responsible for receiving and distributing seeds and fertilizers. These bodies, supported by the defense and security forces, oversee the smooth operation of these initiatives with producers.
Peanut seeds almost entirely available
The distribution of peanut seeds is showing encouraging results. Of the 485 tonnes planned for the region, 466.30 tonnes have already been received, representing a distribution rate of 96.14%.
Sales to producers are also progressing with 362.90 t already sold, representing 77.83% of the available quantities.
The Kédougou department stands out with a 95.42% land transfer rate, ahead of Saraya (70.67%) and Salémata (53.47%). Authorities hope for an acceleration of these transfers in the coming days so that farmers can adhere to the planting schedule.
For maize, fonio and sorghum: the start is delayed.
Regarding other speculations, only the notification relating to corn has been published; no deliveries had yet been recorded as of the date of the report.
For fonio and sorghum, official notifications are not yet available, thus delaying the launch of operations to plant these seeds.
Three varieties of rice already distributed
The distribution of rice seeds is also underway. Of the five varieties planned for the region, three are already available from the distribution committees.
These are the varieties BG 90-2, Sahel 108 and Nérica L19, whose establishment rates reach 50%, 28% and 47% respectively.
Transfer operations are progressing gradually with rates of 39% for the BG 90-2 variety, 3% for Sahel 108 and 7% for Nérica L19.
Fertilizers are gradually being delivered to producers.
Fertilizer distribution is also proceeding as planned in the various departments of the region.
Formulas 6-20-10, 15-15-15 and 46-00-00 (Urea) recorded placement rates of 100%, 98.35% and 68.25% respectively.
On the side of sales to producers, the rates reach 25.70% for 6-20-10, 33.61% for 15-15-15 and 44.28% for urea, reflecting a gradual increase in supply operations.
A campaign that is entering its active phase
At this stage of the agricultural season, indicators show an overall positive trend in the Kédougou region. Almost all peanut seeds are now available, while the distribution of rice and fertilizers continues.
Agricultural authorities remain committed to accelerating the planting of other crops, particularly maize, fonio, and sorghum, to ensure that producers have all the necessary inputs as soon as the rainy season is fully established. The objective remains to guarantee the success of the 2026-2027 agricultural season and to optimize production performance in the region's three departments.
