Filière arachidière : un secteur à l’agonie à la recherche d’un nouveau souffle
The Senegalese peanut sector is going through a critical period. After several years marked by structural difficulties and tensions between the various links in the value chain, stakeholders want to regain the initiative and revitalize a sector considered strategic for the Senegalese agricultural economy. Faced with the challenges affecting production, marketing, processing, and the sector's competitiveness, the various stakeholders now aim to inject new momentum.
In this regard, stakeholders have renewed the governing bodies of the National Interprofessional Peanut Committee (CNIA). The Committee elected a new executive board following an ordinary general assembly dedicated to this renewal.
Beyond the renewal of personnel and structures, the new board led by Modou Fall will drive a new way of thinking about and managing the sector. Its ambition is to build a truly integrated value chain, from seeds to production, encompassing mechanization, collection, storage, transport, industrial and artisanal processing, export, and the valorization of by-products.
The revival of the sector will also require a redefinition of the relationship between the State and professional organizations, the new chairman of the Committee assured.
The challenge will therefore be to make the CNIA a space for dialogue capable of producing compromises and, above all, concrete solutions.
For its part, the Government intends to continue supporting the sector.
