As the 2026 rainy season draws to a close, the President of the Republic is urging the government to anticipate all the necessary operations to maximize the value of the harvests. During his address to the Council of Ministers this Wednesday, the Head of State emphasized to the Prime Minister the urgent need to expedite the required technical, administrative, and financial procedures.

The presidential directive comes at a pivotal moment when the authorities must organize the collection and distribution of produce. The government is thus called upon to ensure rigorous preparation, putting in place, in a timely manner, the appropriate logistical and financial arrangements.

Peanuts at the heart of concerns

Particular attention is being paid to the peanut sector. The President of the Republic is demanding sustained support for its marketing campaign. Appropriate financing for the sector is the main lever being raised to ensure that the various stakeholders have the necessary resources from the outset. This financial planning appears essential to guarantee the purchase of harvests at a fair price and to avoid disruptions during the collection process.

SONACOS called upon to accelerate its transformation

The Head of State also emphasized the optimal implementation of SONACOS's Industrial Transformation Plan. A key player in the value chain, the state-owned company must strengthen its crushing and refining capacities. The government must therefore ensure the implementation of measures enabling SONACOS to fully play its role as an industrial driver in the transformation of national production.

Public services and strategic reserves under surveillance

In the same statement, the President of the Republic reiterated the imperative of ensuring the continuity of public services. The Prime Minister and members of the government are called upon to take all necessary measures to guarantee quality services throughout the national territory.

The head of state specifically mentioned access to healthcare, the supply of drinking water (in urban, peri-urban, and rural areas), as well as the regularity of electricity and telecommunications services. He also emphasized the importance of securing supplies through the effective establishment of regulatory stockpiles of essential goods.

A few weeks before marketing, the course is set: anticipation of agricultural needs, securing financing for peanuts, industrial relaunch of SONACOS and vigilance on essential services.
