Production, stocks, prix : Un dispositif révolution pour veut mieux anticiper les marchés
Gaining a better understanding of production, anticipating harvest arrivals, monitoring stocks, and identifying areas of need: the Market Regulation Agency (ARM) aims to strengthen its market information system (MIS) to better anticipate imbalances and contribute to controlling agricultural prices.
With the support of Enabel, the ARM brought together public institutions, professional organizations, private actors and technical and financial partners around methodological and analytical support work aimed at improving the collection and use of data on agricultural markets.
For Barbara Sembène, Director General of ARM, information is one of the two pillars of market regulation, along with the organization of stakeholders. The future system must, in particular, offer better visibility on production, harvests, stocks, and areas of need. "This allows us to make better decisions and avoid certain malfunctions at certain times of the year, especially when you sometimes have drastic stock levels and sudden price increases," he explains.
For Secretary General Seydina Aboubacar Sadikh Ndiaye, the SIM must become a true decision-making tool for the State and allow stakeholders to better plan their investments, production and marketing.
Included in the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda, the project should benefit from additional resources within the framework of the 2027 budget. The objective is to transform data into a tool for anticipation and make the regulation of agricultural markets more effective.
