Suivi de la campagne agricole à Sédhiou : les doléances des agriculteurs
During a tour of Sédhiou to monitor the agricultural campaign, the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Livestock met with several stakeholders in the rural sector. During this visit, producers outlined their challenges, primarily the lack of agricultural equipment and the need for better support to improve their working conditions.
In response to these concerns, Dr. Cheikhou Oumar Ba reaffirmed the State's commitment to making mechanization a major driver of transformation in Senegalese agriculture. He emphasized the need for modern agriculture, capable of improving working conditions for producers and increasing yields.
The minister thus made commitments to address the main concerns raised on the ground. He also commended the mobilization of producers and all stakeholders involved in supporting the agricultural campaign. This, at least, is what he observed on several farms he visited.
While there, he met with religious leaders and producers from Ndiama and Bogal, as well as other producers in the Tankon area. These visits allowed the authorities to see firsthand the state of the crops and the realities faced by farmers.
Despite some difficulties, the minister indicated that the distribution of agricultural inputs was nearly 100% complete. He deemed the process generally satisfactory, while acknowledging that improvements are still needed. He also noted encouraging crop growth.
