Diakhao Medical Caravan: The Domou Sénégal charity and the Lebanese-Senegalese Association of Health Professionals bring specialized care closer to Diakhao and surrounding villages

663 consultations and specialized medical procedures carried out during an exceptional day of solidarity in service to the population.

The Domou Senegal Association, in partnership with the Lebanese-Senegalese Association of Health Professionals (ALSPS), reports a very positive outcome for the medical caravan organized on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Diakhao Health Center, in the Fatick region.

This charitable initiative aimed to bring specialized care closer to the people of Diakhao and the nearly 290 villages served by the health district . To meet this challenge, the Domou Sénégal association relied on the medical expertise of ALSPS, which mobilized a team of 26 volunteer doctors and healthcare professionals from several specialties rarely available in this area.

This complementarity between citizen engagement, medical expertise and coordination with the Diakhao Health District has made it possible to offer the population comprehensive care, in exemplary organizational conditions.

UNPRECEDENTED ACCESS TO SPECIALIZED CARE

In a single day, 663 consultations and specialized medical procedures were carried out.

Among them:

1. 52 gynecological ultrasounds
2. 54 dental treatments
3. 27 electrocardiograms
4. 7 digestive endoscopies
5. 4 circumcisions
6. 2 hysteroscopies

These procedures were in addition to several hundred consultations in cardiology, gynecology-obstetrics, hepatogastroenterology, ENT, dermatology, general medicine, urology and dental surgery.

Beyond the numbers, this caravan has allowed many residents to access, sometimes for the first time, a specialist doctor, a further examination or a diagnosis that could not have been made locally.

The medical teams detected or confirmed cases of high blood pressure, heart failure, diabetes, osteoarthritis, infertility, gynecological conditions, and ENT and dermatological disorders. Patients received appropriate care, prescriptions, free access to available medications, and, when necessary, referrals to specialized facilities.

AN ACTION THAT GOES BEYOND A SINGLE DAY OF CONSULTATIONS

Beyond the care provided, this mission strengthened early detection, prevention, and awareness of good health practices. It also demonstrated that a partnership between a citizens' association, volunteer healthcare professionals, and health authorities can provide concrete solutions to the needs of populations furthest removed from specialized care.

The success of this operation relied on the remarkable commitment of the ALSPS members , whom Domou Sénégal warmly thanks for their professionalism, availability, and dedication to service. Without their efforts, this caravan would not have been possible.

Domou Sénégal also expresses its deep gratitude to Dr. Ablaye Touré, Chief Medical Officer of the Diakhao Health District , to the Health Committee, to the teams at the Health Centre, to the volunteers, to the partners and to all those who contributed to the organisation of this day.
