Requête sur la date des élections locales : Pastef annonce une suite « défavorable » de la Cena et du ministère
On Wednesday, August 26, Pastef submitted a formal request to the National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) and the Ministry of the Interior to initiate the territorial electoral process. This Friday, the political party led by Ousmane Sonko announced that it had received their responses. It informed the public that the Minister of the Interior and CENA had rejected its request.
Regarding the Minister of the Interior, "based on an erroneous interpretation of Articles L. 236 and L. 269, he considers that the aforementioned provisions 'do not impose any deadline on the competent authority to issue the said decree'", Pastef indicated in a press release.
The party believes that the minister "is clumsily attempting to justify the President of the Republic's failure by invoking paragraph 3," which stipulates that "when circumstances require it, elections may not be held within thirty (30) days preceding the expiration of the fifth year of the term."
But, according to the political party, "contrary to the Minister's claims, the decree setting the date of the election must be issued before the order setting the amount of the deposit."
"If this decree is subject to an imperative period of one hundred and fifty days before the date of the election (L. 247 and L. 282 of the Electoral Code), it cannot be otherwise for the decree setting the date of the election itself, the founding act of said decree," argues Pastef.
The Cena is also implicated
As for the CENI (National Independent Electoral Commission), Pastef (the party of Ousmane Sonko) states that it "refuses to exercise its prerogatives." According to the party, the CENI considers its oversight role "to begin with the revision of the electoral lists and end with the provisional proclamation of the results."
But for Pastef, such an interpretation "does not stand up to scrutiny."
Faced with this situation, Ousmane Sonko and his comrades demand that the President of the Republic inform the Senegalese people of the objective and specific reasons justifying, according to them, "this illegal postponement of the territorial elections".
The party also said it "deplores" that, more than two years after the postponement which had resulted in numerous losses of human life, the current President of the Republic is "returning to the political demons of the past" by "tearing up the pact of loyalty to electoral law", and this, for reasons that Pastef describes as "basely political".

Je rappelle qu'il faut déposer une plainte a la cour de la CEDEAO. Je ne crois plus que Diomaye dispose de tout son cerveau.
