Mr. President Macky Sall,
I respectfully accept your decision to withdraw your candidacy for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations. I understand its gravity and commend the sense of responsibility that inspires it: that of a man for whom serving remains a higher imperative than attaining a position.
I supported your candidacy with conviction. I defended it in my writings, with the freedom of my choices and the consistency of my commitments. I saw in it the opportunity to put state experience at the service of peace, to bring an African voice to the conduct of world affairs, and to make our country shine beyond its borders.
Your decision does not lead me to renounce either this support or the reasons behind it. A sincere conviction is not measured solely by the outcome of an election. It is also judged by the validity of the ambition expressed and by fidelity to the values that gave rise to it.
You have chosen to withdraw to allow for a consensus to emerge. I respect this choice, which distinguishes between commitment to a mission and commitment to a position. It takes determination to put forward a candidacy; it also takes wisdom to relinquish it when one believes one can serve the cause that inspired it in another way.
My gratitude goes to all those who have supported this ambition: to the states that backed it, to the individuals who championed it, to your campaign team, and to the citizens and friends of Senegal and Africa who placed their trust in it. None of these commitments lose their value with the announced withdrawal.
I would also like to acknowledge the support of President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye. Beyond our political differences, this gesture has given substance to a conviction I have defended: when it comes to the influence of Senegal, our country must know how to unite around what makes it great.
This is not a time for bitterness or accusations. It is a time for dignity, gratitude, and preserving our ability to come together. The ambition for a better-understood Africa and a more just international order remains intact. It transcends a candidacy and will continue to demand our commitment.
Mr. President, my support was sincere. My respect remains so.
The application process has ended. The obligation to serve remains.

Je disais que les votes informels, c'est pour faire démissionner ceux qui comprennent "Buur saayneu ". Macky en a eu subi 5 sans comprendre. Alors, on lui a dit: "Buur ñafna xoonam ".
