« Les faveurs que vous désirez sont entre les mains du diable » : Un célèbre chanteur crée la polémique au Nigéria
The famous Nigerian singer "9ice" sparked controversy on social media by making remarks that questioned the country's deep-rooted religious culture. During a listening party for his album "Beginning of Wisdom," he stated that the constant prayers of Christians and Muslims in Nigeria had not helped their nation progress and develop.

"You are going to leave Nigeria to go to Mecca, to lick stones in the name of the Kaaba. Since you have been invoking Allah and Jesus, this country has not progressed. We have crude oil, we have everything we need, and yet we are lagging behind," the artist said.
"You don't have a job, but you go to church constantly."
He finds that cities like London, whose populations are attending churches less and less, are making progress.
“In London, nobody goes to church. People only go to their workplace. You go to church on Sunday, to Bible study on Wednesday, to the vigil on Friday, when are you going to work? You don’t have a job, but you’re constantly going to church,” 9ice criticized.
According to him, religion does not serve progress. He even goes a step further, stating that "all the favors (that one can desire) in life are in the hands of the devil."
"Religion is not responsible for Nigeria's difficulties."
On social media, several users denounced his remarks, arguing that religion is not responsible for Nigeria's difficulties. Others generally agreed with his argument, conceding that religious fervor can sometimes harm a country's productivity.
