Orchestra Baobab : Le géant de la musique sénégalaise qui défie le temps et les générations
A true monument of Senegalese music, Orchestra Baobab continues to showcase the musical elegance of Senegal and Africa throughout the world. A living legend that has transcended eras without losing its soul, it is one of those groups that not only make music but also write history. Orchestra Baobab undoubtedly belongs to this latter category. Born in Dakar in the late 1960s, this legendary ensemble has established itself as one of the leading ambassadors of the rich musical heritage of Senegal and Africa on the international stage.
As its late predecessor Adrien Senghor would have wished, through its captivating melodies, delicate guitars, warm brass, and irresistible rhythms, Orchestra Baobab has forged a unique sonic identity, at the crossroads of West African traditions, Cuban music, and Afro-Latin influences. A rare alchemy that has given birth to a timeless repertoire.
After several tours and successful performances, Orchestra Baobab has just unveiled its new album entitled "Made In Senegal". An album that revisits Senegalese classics from the very heart of its legendary repertoire.
In an interview with Seneweb this Thursday, Abibou Mbaye, the group's manager and producer, discussed the album and his expectations, as well as Orchestra Baobab's future projects.
