Polémique sur la dette dite cachée : Les précisions de Abdourahmane Sarr, ex-ministre de l'Economie
The recent statement by the outgoing First President of the Court of Auditors has reignited the debate surrounding the so-called hidden debt. "You will not find any mention of a hidden debt on any page of the report," Mamadou Faye stated in the pages of L'Observateur. This was enough to reignite the debate.
This controversy has prompted Abdourahmane Sarr, former Minister of Economy, to break his silence. "The question for our country today is not whether there is a debt that has been hidden from those who should have known its extent. This fact has been established," he declared.
For him, the question is whether "this established debt, now known to all as it should be, is sustainable or not, and what our strategy should be for its refinancing."
On this issue, the former government member believes that Senegal's current level of debt is sustainable and reasonably refinanceable in CFA francs.
