Bac 2026 à Ziguinchor : 11 816 candidats, dont 2 302 libres, soit près d’un cinquième de l’effectif
The 2026 baccalaureate session is shaping up to be exceptional in the Ziguinchor region, with a marked increase in the number of registered candidates. Statistics from the Baccalaureate Office reveal a rise of 935 candidates compared to 2025, driven primarily by the general baccalaureate, which has 11,744 registered candidates, 863 more than last year. The technical baccalaureate remains marginal with only 72 candidates.
Of the 11,816 registered candidates, 2,302 are independent candidates, representing nearly one-fifth of the total, compared to 9,514 official candidates from public and private institutions. This strong presence of independent candidates reflects a particular level of engagement and organizational challenges for academic authorities.
Another striking fact is the predominance of girls: there are 6,924 of them, compared to 4,892 boys, representing nearly six out of ten candidates. This trend confirms the growing role of young women in the regional education system.
With a slightly reorganized system (31 examination centers for the general baccalaureate and 38 main juries), the educational authorities will have to meet a major logistical challenge to ensure the smooth running of the tests for this 2026 session.
