Bac général 2026 à Ziguinchor : neuf candidats sur dix en littéraires
The Ziguinchor Academy is preparing for a general Baccalaureate exam marked by a clear imbalance. Of the 11,631 registered students, no fewer than 10,474 are in the humanities track, representing 90.6% of the total. The science track, on the other hand, accounts for only 1,099 students, or 9.4%.
This disproportion illustrates a persistent trend: the humanities overwhelmingly dominate, leaving the sciences on the sidelines. The L2 track concentrates the majority of humanities students with 6,765 registered, while the S2 track almost single-handedly accounts for the majority of science students with 1,075 candidates. The other science tracks, S1 with 21 registered students and S2A with only 3, appear marginal and reinforce the image of an educational landscape where humanities students overshadow the sciences.
Among literature students, the diversity of tracks remains significant: L1B has 10 candidates, LA has 24 registered, and LAR Arabic has 37 students. These figures confirm that the literature track remains the preferred choice for students in Ziguinchor.
This ratio of nine humanities graduates to one scientist raises questions about the academic and professional future of the region. In a context where the need for technical and innovative skills is crucial, this low level of engagement in science challenges educational stakeholders and calls for reflection on career guidance for young people.
Logistically, the organization is under control: the jury presidents are already in place, the subjects and materials are available, and the final distribution of supplies will take place on the eve of the tests, that is to say tomorrow.
Ziguinchor is ready for its 2026 Baccalaureate, but the contrast between literature and science will remain at the heart of the debates.
