CRFPE de Thiès : Les élèves-maîtres menacent de tout paralyser d'ici vendredi
The Association of Student Teachers at the Regional Training Center for Education Personnel (CRFPE) in Thiès has spoken out against the persistent delays in scholarship payments. In a press release issued on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the association expressed its deep concern about a situation it described as "unfair, precarious, and discriminatory."
According to the association, several alerts and awareness campaigns were conducted with the relevant authorities to secure the payment of the scholarships. An ultimatum had even been set for Saturday, June 13, 2026, to resolve the issue. However, this deadline was not met, leaving the student teachers in an increasingly difficult situation.
Faced with this impasse, the student teachers began their first phase of mobilization on Monday, June 15th, with a work stoppage starting at 10:00 AM. This action was followed by a meeting with the management of the CRFPE (Regional Center for Teacher Training) in Thiès to review the progress of the case.
Following the discussions, the director of the CRFPE indicated that he had taken all necessary steps within his authority, specifying that the obstacle now lay with the Treasury. The Association acknowledges this explanation, while reiterating that the difficulties faced by student teachers remain unresolved and require an urgent response.
To maintain pressure, another work stoppage is planned for Tuesday, June 16, starting at 10 a.m. The student teachers also intend to hold a press conference in front of the CRFPE (Regional Center for Teacher Training) to inform the public about the steps taken and the demands being made.
The association also announced an observation period on Wednesday, June 17th and Thursday, June 18th to assess the authorities' reactions and monitor developments in the case. However, in the absence of significant progress, it reserves the right to launch a total strike on Friday, June 19th and Saturday, June 20th, 2026. This action could be continued until their demands are met.
While demonstrating its resolve, the Association of Student Teachers at the Thiès Regional Teacher Training Center (CRFPE) reaffirms its commitment to dialogue and respect for institutions. It emphasizes that this mobilization aims solely to secure the payment of scholarships so that student teachers can continue their training in dignified conditions.
