Hausse des prix des carburants : Ce qu’en dit Ameth Guissé, président de l'Association Sénégalaise des Pétroliers (ASP)
Fuel prices in Senegal have risen in recent days. Authorities cite the Middle Eastern conflict, which began on February 28, 2026, as the cause of a sharp increase in global oil prices.
“We have no particular opinion on this readjustment. It is up to the State to determine the selling prices of petroleum products based on many factors,” said Amath Guissé, President of the Association of Petroleum Companies of Senegal, contacted by us.
For him, it is necessary to "commend the effort made by the State which, for months, maintained prices." And this, he says, "despite the global geopolitical situation and despite the spikes recorded in the price of a barrel of oil."
Indeed, last Saturday, the Government announced an adjustment to fuel prices. Super unleaded gasoline was set at 990 FCFA per liter, an increase of 70 FCFA, and diesel at 755 FCFA per liter, an increase of 75 FCFA per liter. The prices of all other petroleum products remained unchanged.
The Government explained that this adjustment simply returns fuel prices to their pre-decrease levels. This is due to the consequences of the conflict in the Middle East, which has led to a sharp rise in global oil prices.
