Incident technique à Tivaouane : La Senelec remplace le câble endommagé et annonce un retour à la normale
Following the power outages in Tivaouane on Monday caused by a technical incident, the National Electricity Company (Senelec) reacted swiftly. As part of the enhanced operational plan deployed for the Gamou celebration—which included 300 staff mobilized in the holy city to ensure optimal power supply—all available resources were immediately committed to restoring service as quickly as possible.
On site in the Goumoune district of Tivaouane from the morning with the teams at work, Babacar Maram Diallo, Head of the Thiès-Tivaouane-Cayar distribution service, gave a detailed account of the origin of the breakdown as well as the exemplary responsiveness of Senelec and its teams.
“We had an incident impacting the heart of the city of Tivaouane. Our teams mobilized as soon as we recorded the first disruptions. Our equipment allowed us to detect the fault and the search indicated this point. When we opened the trench, we found that the cable had been cut by an earthmoving machine. Instead of reporting the incident, the driver calmly buried the cable and fled,” he confided.
According to him, this cable - which supplies the Gamou from the Tobène power station - has suffered several damages in the past and was changed and put back into service last Friday following a preventive diagnosis carried out by Senelec as part of the preparations for the religious event.
The Head of Distribution strongly deplored the lack of prior notification of these earthworks and the failure to immediately report the damage, which could have impacted the smooth running of the Gamou celebration had it not been for the responsiveness of the Senelec teams. Mr. Diallo assures that bailiff's reports have been drawn up and appropriate measures will follow.
The fully mobilized technical teams successfully replaced the damaged cable and restored service in record time, in accordance with instructions, a feat the Head of Distribution expressed his satisfaction. "We have just completed the repair and the situation is back to normal. Tivaouane is now properly supplied by this cable, known as the 'Grand Mosque departure' cable," Babacar Maram Diallo happily announced.
He also appeals to companies carrying out work in the Goumoune district to inform Senelec beforehand if they do not cease operations until the end of Gamou.
