The hydrological situation of the Gambia River and its main tributaries remains generally stable this Friday, August 14, 2026. Water levels recorded at 8 a.m. remain well below alert levels, although some stations are experiencing a significant rise.

According to the daily hydrological bulletin from the Tambacounda/Kédougou Water Resources Brigade, the Kédougou station shows a water level of 2.98 meters, a decrease of 45 centimeters in 24 hours. The level remains 4.02 meters below the alert level set at 7 meters.

At Mako, the water level stands at 3.01 meters, a decrease of 28 centimeters over the last 24 hours. The difference with the alert level of 6 meters is 2.99 meters.

The situation is different in Simenti, where a rise of 72 centimeters was recorded, bringing the water level to 4.85 meters. Despite this increase, the level remains well below the alert threshold of 13 meters, with a difference of 8.15 meters.

In Gouloumbou, the trend is also upward, with a level of 3.80 meters, compared to 3.66 meters the previous day, representing an increase of 14 centimeters. With the alert level set at 12 meters, the difference remains significant, at 8.20 meters.

At the other stations, Diaguiri recorded a slight decrease of 3 centimeters, with a water level of 1.17 meters. At Thiokoye, the level fell to 1.63 meters, a decrease of 2 centimeters. In contrast, Niokolokoba experienced a significant rise of 94 centimeters, with the water level reaching 2.94 meters.

Despite these variations, the bulletin maintains a green alert, corresponding to the absence of any particular vigilance. Therefore, at this stage, the situation does not present any exceedances of the alert thresholds reported by the monitored stations.

The summary table confirms however contrasting trends according to the measurement points: a decrease in Kédougou, Mako, Diaguiri and Thiokoye, against an increase in Simenti, Gouloumbou and Niokolokoba.
