Hydrologie du fleuve : La montée se poursuit à Podor
Residents along the Senegal River in Podor are observing a continuous rise in the water level at the beginning of October. According to readings taken this Friday, October 9, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the Elhadj Boubou Sall wharf, the town's hydrological station recorded a water level of 4.07 meters.
This measurement confirms the upward trend observed on the watercourse: the day before, at the same time, the level was at 4.05 meters, representing a net increase of 2 centimeters in the space of 24 hours.
The situation is below the alert level but requires vigilance.
Although the water level continues to rise daily, the situation remains significantly less critical than that observed during the previous winter monitoring campaign. On the same date last year, the river reached 5.49 meters, well above the critical threshold. As a reminder, the official alert level at the Podor station is set at 5.00 meters.
Despite this improvement compared to last year, local authorities and observers are urging the public to remain vigilant. Continued vigilance is essential, particularly for the protection of vulnerable individuals and the preservation of socio-economic activities linked to the river.
