HYDROLOGIE DU FLEUVE SÉNÉGAL À PODOR : LA CRUE AMORCE UNE FAIBLE BAISSE
The hydrological situation of the Senegal River confirms a downward trend this Thursday, October 29, 2026. At the Podor hydrological weather station, located at the Elhadj Boubou Sall quay, the river level recorded at 8:00 AM was 4.40 m. A slight improvement is observed compared to yesterday, when the water level reached 4.41 m at the same time, representing a small decrease of 1 cm.
A significantly more favorable situation than last year
This year, the situation remains well below the critical threshold. The current level is 4.40 m, while the official alert level set for the Podor station is 5.00 m. For comparison, the level measured at the end of October remains significantly lower than that recorded a year earlier on the same date, when the water level peaked at 5.83 m.
The drops in water levels recorded this Thursday are even more pronounced. The Matam station noted a decrease of 19 centimeters compared to the previous day, while in Bakel, a more significant drop of 30 cm was observed in 24 hours.
Despite the gradual decrease in the river level, caution is still advised. Residents living along the river are strongly urged to exercise increased vigilance.
