Hydrologie : Le Doué grimpe à 4,60 m à Guédé Chantier et s'approche de sa côte d'alerte
This steady rise is bringing the river closer to its alert level of 5 meters. With only 40 centimeters of margin before reaching this critical level, authorities are calling for increased monitoring of the riverbanks throughout the area, as rains continue to fall in the basin.
However, the situation remains temporarily more stable on the main channel of the Senegal River. At the Podor station, located at the El Hadj Boubou Sall wharf, the water level remained steady at 3.23 meters, the same as the previous day's measurement. This level is below the mark recorded at the same time last year (3.50 meters) and remains well below the local alert level, also set at 5 meters.
Given the gradual rise in the waters of the Doué River, local authorities are urging riverside communities to remain constantly vigilant. They are particularly advised to closely supervise children near the riverbanks, secure livestock, and move fishing and irrigation equipment away from the riverbed.
Owners of canoes, floating platforms, and motor pumps are advised to secure their equipment to prevent damage or loss in the event of a flash flood. The situation is being monitored through regular hydrometric readings to anticipate changes in water levels in the coming days.
