Hydrologie : Le fleuve Sénégal poursuit sa montée à Podor, le Doué également en hausse
The level of the Senegal River continues to rise in Podor, although it remains well below the alert level set at 5m.
According to readings taken this Monday, July 20 at 8 a.m. at the Podor hydrometric station, located at the El Hadj Boubou Sall quay, the river showed a height of 3.03 m compared to 3.00 m the day before at the same time, representing a rise of 3 cm in 24 hours.
For comparison, at the same time last year, the river level was 3.37 m, which is 34 cm higher than it is now.
Observations also indicate a rise in the level of the Doué, the main tributary of the Senegal River. At the Guédé Chantier gauge, the water level was measured at 3.94 m this Monday at 8 a.m., compared to 3.82 m the previous day, thus registering an increase of 12 cm in one day.
Even though the situation does not yet cause particular concern, authorities and observers are urging people to remain vigilant, especially with regard to children who frequent the banks of the river and the Doué, in a context marked by the continued rise in water levels during this winter period.
