Podor : hausse constante du niveau des eaux du fleuve Sénégal
The level of the Senegal River continues its gradual rise at the Podor station, located at the Elhadj Boubou Sall quay. This Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 8:00 AM, the water level reached 3.38 meters, marking an increase of 6 centimeters compared to the previous day when the water level stood at 3.32 meters.
This upward trend places the current level slightly above that recorded at the same time last year, when the river was 3.36 meters high.
Although the water level remains below the alert level set at 5.00 meters for the locality of Podor, the continued evolution of the flood calls for increased caution on the part of the riverside populations.
Hydrological and local authorities urge residents to be vigilant, particularly regarding the safety of children and the monitoring of livestock near riverbanks. They are also strongly advised to adapt the management of equipment and tools located along the riverbank: securing canoes and floating platforms, protecting fishing nets, and ensuring the safety of motor pumps and agricultural installations in the floodplain.
