Salémata : le débordement du marigot de Kévovye coupe plusieurs villages du département
The overflowing of the Kévovye stream in the Salémata department has severely disrupted traffic in several localities. The residents of Kévoye, Ngada Pété, Lombi, Haikoum, Lilakomy, and Haykoumé are now isolated from the rest of the department. Vehicles can no longer access these villages, causing concern and distress among the inhabitants.
The situation has become particularly worrying in the department of Salémata. The overflowing of the Kévovye stream, following heavy rains, has made access to several villages in the area difficult, if not impossible.
The towns of Kévoye, Ngada Pété, Lombi, Haikoum, Lilakomy, and Haykoumé are currently cut off from the rest of the department. With vehicle traffic impossible, residents are facing significant difficulties in moving around and accessing essential services.
"We are cut off from the rest of the department."
Faced with this situation, the residents are appealing for help and want a swift intervention from the authorities.
Aguibou Sy, a resident of Kévoye, said: “Since the stream overflowed, we have had great difficulty getting around. Vehicles can no longer pass, and we are practically cut off from the rest of the department. We ask the authorities to find a solution quickly.”
Fatoumata Diallo, a resident of Ngada Pété, contacted by phone, said: “This situation worries us greatly. Travel to other towns, to the market, or to access health services has become very difficult. We hope that measures will be taken quickly to allow people to move around.”
Beyond mobility issues, the isolation of these villages could have consequences for access to health facilities, markets and basic necessities.
For families living in these areas, the inability of vehicles to circulate is a real constraint, especially in the event of a medical emergency or for obtaining supplies.
In the villages concerned, the expectation is now focused on intervention from the authorities and competent technical services.
Residents particularly want a solution to be found to facilitate crossing the area and restore vehicle traffic, while taking into account the risks associated with rising water levels.
