Situation hydrologique du fleuve Sénégal : La tendance haussière se poursuit à Podor
At the Elhadj Boubou Sall Quay hydrological station in Podor, the Senegal River level continues its slow rise. According to the daily bulletin for Wednesday, October 21, the reading taken at 8:00 a.m. showed a height of 4.35 meters on the flood gauge. Yesterday at the same time, the water level was at 4.34 meters, representing a rise of 1 centimeter in 24 hours.
A measured increase, well below the level recorded at the same time last year. On October 21, 2025, the river peaked at 5.73 m in Podor. The alert level is set at 5 m for the Podor station. The current level therefore remains below the alert threshold, but vigilance is still required.
Authorities are urging residents living near the river to exercise caution, remain vigilant, and supervise children. Livestock farmers are also asked to keep a close eye on their animals.
Finally, workers in the area are strongly advised to secure tools and equipment located near waterways, including canoes, fishing nets, floating containers, generators and motor pumps.
