[EXCLUSIVE] Phantom marriage and vanished millions: How a network of alleged homosexuals fleeced "Modou-Modou"

[EXCLUSIF] Mariage fantôme et millions envolés : Comment un réseau de présumés homosexuels a plumé des "Modou-Modou"

The National Gendarmerie, under the command of General Martin Faye, continues its relentless operations to ensure the protection of citizens and their property throughout the national territory. It is within this framework that the Saint-Louis Research Brigade dismantled a new network of suspected homosexuals.

Four HIV-positive suspects were brought before Prosecutor Baye Thiam, head of the local prosecutor's office, on charges of criminal conspiracy, unnatural acts, intentional transmission of HIV, pimping, money laundering, illegal collection of personal data, and digital identity theft. They were all formally charged last Thursday and remanded in custody by the investigating judge of the first chamber of the Saint-Louis High Court.

A digital scam is at the root of the case.

It all started with an investigation into a case of digital identity theft and fraud, which ultimately led to the dismantling of this network. The suspect, BS, posed as a woman on social media to lure modou-modou (a term referring to Senegalese people living abroad).

To this end, he had created a TikTok account featuring photos of a beautiful girl. This is how Jules (a pseudonym), an immigrant, fell under the spell of this fictitious profile. A virtual romance developed, during which the fake woman communicated regularly with Jules, without him realizing he was dealing with a man. BS eventually managed to convince his victim to send him several million CFA francs, under the pretext of a marriage plan that never materialized. The accused then cut off all contact.

Knowing that he had been the victim of a scam, Jules filed a complaint against X. The investigations carried out by the gendarmes of the Research Brigade of the Saint-Louis gendarmerie company made it possible to formally identify BS as the perpetrator of the acts.

A well-organized network

Investigators discovered that the suspect held more than a dozen fake accounts on various social media platforms, allowing him to impersonate a woman and defraud victims, mostly immigrants. Some of these accounts were specifically used for gay encounters. Following his arrest and faced with the overwhelming technical evidence gathered against him, members of his group, including AH, MS, and O. Mb., were successively apprehended by investigators from the Saint-Louis Research Brigade.

During questioning, the four HIV-positive suspects confessed to having engaged in sexual relations with each other, which they described as unnatural acts, according to exclusive information obtained by Seneweb. Searches conducted at their homes yielded cotton, lubricants, massage oil, and bottles of HIV medication.

The four people involved, including two shopkeepers, a tailor and a pharmacy assistant, are currently incarcerated at the Saint-Louis central prison.

As a reminder, eight suspected homosexuals previously arrested by the Saint-Louis Research Section had also been placed under arrest warrant.
