Agressions en série à Guédiawaye : face aux victimes, le redoutable « Wadji » finit par craquer
W. Sakho, alias "Wadji", presented as a repeat offender involved in several attacks on the Guédiawaye coastline, was brought before the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office on Tuesday by the Wakhinane-Nimzatt police station.
According to L'Observateur, which reported the story, the suspect, barely released from prison last April, has resumed his activities by targeting passersby, early morning joggers, and couples walking alone along the VDN 3 highway and on the beaches of Malibu, Gadaye, and Malika. With his alleged accomplice, Mr. Niang, currently at large, he is said to have used knives to threaten and injure his most resistant victims. According to witness statements, the pair also sprayed some scooter drivers with a "neutralizing chemical substance" to cause them to fall and then rob them.
Damning testimonies
Despite his criminal record – “five years in prison in 2020 and two years in 2024” – W. Sakho initially denied the allegations. But confronted with some fifteen complaints compiled by investigators, he was formally identified by several victims, including F. Sène, MC Diouf, and M. Ndiaye.
The victims' accounts:
F. Sène recounted being "surrounded with her partner by three individuals armed with knives, who snatched her phone." MC Diouf, a scooter driver quoted by the newspaper, explained that he was "sprayed with a chemical substance" while riding with his partner at the Wakhinane-Nimzatt roundabout.
More seriously, notes the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group, Mr. Ndiaye identified the accused as the perpetrator of "a stab wound to the thigh" which he allegedly received after resisting his attackers.
A partial acknowledgment of the facts
Challenged by these testimonies, W. Sakho initially tried to shift the blame for the most violent attacks onto his alleged accomplice. He eventually admitted, "albeit reluctantly and in a sworn statement," to having organized ambushes with him near the beaches to rob passersby and isolated couples.
He is being prosecuted for "criminal conspiracy and multiple robberies with violence and use of weapons." His alleged accomplice, Mr. Niang, is actively being sought by the police.
