Infiltrating TikTok under his daughter's identity, a father lures a suspected predator into an armed trap

A shockingly violent incident has shaken Grove City, Ohio. A 31-year-old father, Malik Chandler, lured his 11-year-old daughter's alleged attacker onto TikTok before shooting him twice, according to the New York Post .

The case began last July when the girl's mother discovered a particularly disturbing video on her child's phone, showing a sexual assault committed at the family home by a 20-year-old man identified as Diego Montoya Gonzalez. The day after this discovery, Malik Chandler decided to use his daughter's TikTok account to contact the suspect, impersonating her in an attempt to lure him back to their house.

According to statements given by the father to investigators, his initial intention was to beat the young man, restrain him, and immediately contact the police. However, the situation escalated when the suspect arrived. Thinking he saw Diego Montoya Gonzalez pull a gun from his pocket, Malik Chandler grabbed his own pistol from the counter and opened fire. Upon arriving at the scene, police found the suspect sitting in a chair, having been shot twice. He was rushed to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Following these events, Malik Chandler was charged with aggravated assault and his bail was set at $100,000.

For his part, Diego Montoya Gonzalez faces serious charges. Last Friday, a grand jury indicted him on five counts of distributing targeted sexual material, two counts of rape, and one count of obstruction of justice. Prosecutors also revealed that they had discovered several videos of child sexual abuse on the suspect's phone, including one involving a young child.

During his court appearance Monday in Franklin County, in the presence of the victim's parents, the judge set his bail at a total of $70,000 ($50,000 in cash and a $20,000 personal undertaking). If released on bail, he will be strictly prohibited from contacting the girl and her family, as well as from using the internet for any purpose other than professional ones.
