Kaffrine: Launch of regional consultations on the National Equity Strategy to reduce inequalities between territories
The Kaffrine region hosted a regional consultation workshop on the National Equity Strategy, chaired by the Deputy Governor, in the presence of the Director General for the Promotion of Territorial Equity. The objective was to gather on-the-ground information to better target public investments towards the most disadvantaged areas.
This meeting is part of a participatory approach aimed at better understanding inequalities between territories and improving access for populations to basic social services.
Speaking at the event, Amadou Mbaye, Regional Director of Community Development and Equity Promotion for the Central region, emphasized the importance of this phase of territorial consultation: "Today in Kaffrine, we are organizing a workshop that is part of a participatory and inclusive approach to developing the National Equity Strategy."
The workshop highlighted several priority sectors, including access to electricity, drinking water, health, education, road infrastructure and sanitation.
The Kaffrine region holds a special place in this process, due to its pilot role for several years. The organizers also acknowledged the support of technical partners, particularly Enabel.
