Kaolack : Deux policiers blessés lors de l'interpellation d'un suspect accusé de menaces et de violences
On July 18, 2026, Ms. S. Ndiaye filed a complaint at the Kaolack central police station against Bamba and A. Mbaye, a 23-year-old laundry worker residing in Thioffack. The complainant reported repeated disturbances under her windows caused by a group of individuals consuming alcohol and marijuana, as well as verbally abusing passersby.
An initial patrol dispatched to the scene that same day led to the arrest of two individuals who were clearly intoxicated. After sobering up completely, they were issued citations and ordered to cease their behavior before being released with a summons.
But the measure did not deter the suspects, who reoffended by physically attacking the complainant and making death threats against her 5-year-old minor son.
An emergency intervention marked by violence against police officers
Alerted to these new developments, the police returned to the scene where they arrested the main suspect, A. Mbaye. During his arrest, he violently resisted the police and injured two officers from the investigation unit, one in the head and the other in the nose.
The suspect was eventually subdued and taken to the police station where he was placed in custody for public insults, death threats, resisting arrest, and assaulting police officers in the performance of their duties, according to Seneweb sources. The two injured officers were taken to a medical facility for examination.
The investigation continues under police custody in order to locate the accomplices who are still at large. The public prosecutor's office has been notified.
