Pikine : agression spectaculaire à l'Arène nationale, un tailleur jeté dans les eaux stagnantes et dépouillé
On July 12, 2026, officers from the Pikine district police station's Criminal Investigation Unit arrested I. Baldé, a 21-year-old man charged with armed robbery. He is a mechanic by trade and resides in Rufisque.
According to the complainant, Mr. Sall, a 24-year-old tailor, the events took place around 5 p.m. That day, the victim had left Colobane to return home to Tivaouane Peulh.
Upon reaching the roundabout near the National Arena, Mr. Sall was targeted by a group of individuals who violently pushed him into the stagnant water. Taking advantage of the confusion, the assailant snatched his bag, which contained two cell phones—an iPhone 13 Pro Max and an iPhone 11—as well as a wallet with 116,000 CFA francs in cash, before fleeing. His accomplices then stole the victim's silver chain, cap, and shoes, according to Seneweb sources.
Upon exiting the water, Mr. Sall spotted the suspect, still in possession of his bag, and alerted the police officers present. The officers then proceeded to arrest him immediately, while he was still carrying the bag containing the two cell phones and 116,000 CFA francs, both of which were wet.
After a brief questioning, I. Baldé admitted to the charges against him. He was taken into custody for armed robbery committed by a group. Prosecutor Saliou Dicko was notified of the case, and an investigation is currently underway.
