Pour 20 000 FCFA offerts à son mari victime d’un AVC : Elle fracasse le nez de son beau-fils avec un pilon
The illness of a father did not bring the members of this family in Guinaw-Rails closer together. Rather, it brought long-buried tensions to the surface. Around 20,000 FCFA given to the father, weakened by a stroke, a heated argument erupted between the son-in-law, Mr. Cissé (31 years old), and his aunt, A. Sagna (44 years old). During the altercation, the woman allegedly struck the young man in the face with a pestle. The blow caused a broken nose, resulting in a 21-day period of temporary incapacity for work.
What drove the aunt to such violence? She will have to explain herself on July 10 before the Pikine-Guédiawaye court for flagrant offenses. Brought before the prosecutor's office on Tuesday for assault and battery, the shopkeeper was remanded in custody by Prosecutor Saliou Dicko, following an investigation conducted by the Guinaw-Rails district police station.
According to the facts, the origin of the conflict is a family dispute concerning the care of L. Cissé, the plaintiff's father, who has been physically impaired since suffering a stroke. Mr. Cissé claims that he has been caring for his father daily since his illness and manages, in particular, the money given to him by relatives.
On June 23, 2026, a relative, Y. Dramé, who had come from Spain, visited the sick man. Before leaving, he gave him 20,000 FCFA. The father then asked his son, M. Cissé, to keep the money. It was at this moment that A. Sagna, the sick man's wife and the complainant's aunt, entered the room and demanded that the money be given to her. The nephew refused, explaining that he was acting on his father's instructions. The discussion quickly escalated into a heated argument.
The complainant recounts that A. Sagna then tried to snatch the banknotes from his hands. The two got into a fight. Alerted by the shouting, their cousin B. Souané intervened to separate them. Despite his intervention, the tension continued to escalate. A. Sagna's two sons, aged 16 and 13 respectively, arrived and sided with their mother, further aggravating the situation.
According to Mr. Cissé, his aunt grabbed a pestle and struck him violently in the face. He explained that he immediately felt a sharp pain, began bleeding profusely from the nose, and then lost consciousness in front of his family. He was then rushed to the Pikine National Hospital Center, where he was admitted for treatment.
Medical examinations revealed a fracture of the nasal bones. Hospitalized for two days, the plaintiff claims that doctors informed him that surgery would be necessary. The medical certificate, initially issued with a 10-day period of temporary incapacity for work, ultimately indicated a 21-day period, given the severity of the injuries.
The aunt's version…
When questioned by investigators, A. Sagna categorically rejected the accusations made against her by her stepson. A porridge vendor and mother of five, she asserted that the tensions within the household were not her fault and maintained that she was, on the contrary, the victim of the complainant's repeated actions.
According to her, since Mr. Cissé moved into the house to care for her father, who had suffered a stroke, their relationship has deteriorated significantly. She claims that he regularly provokes her, enters her room without permission, and disrespects her. She recalls a previous incident between them. On April 2, 2025, she had even filed a complaint against him for assault and battery, a case that resulted in a five-day period of temporary incapacity for work. However, following family mediation, she withdrew the charges.
Recounting the events of June 23, 2026, A. Sagna explains that she was preparing a meal in the kitchen when Y. Dramé, a relative residing in Spain, came to visit her husband. After a few moments, she went to the bedroom to greet him. She says that, just before leaving, he gave her husband some money. According to her, M. Cissé immediately took the money while her father was still lying in bed.
Believing that the money should remain in her husband's possession, she says she held her stepson's hand so that he would return the money to his father or give it to her. It was then, she claims, that Mr. Cissé violently pushed her, sparking a fight between them. During the altercation, her son, I. Cissé, intervened, before their relative, B. Souané, managed to separate the two.
A. Sagna firmly denies using a pestle or any other object to strike the plaintiff. She maintains that it was merely a simple scuffle and asserts that she never struck her stepson in the face.
When questioned about Mr. Cissé's broken nose, she said she was unable to explain its origin. However, she suggested that the injury could have occurred during the altercation the complainant had with his son.
